Halima Shariff

Media, Advocacy Specialist, and Communication Strategist.

Ms. Halima Shariff is an accomplished Tanzanian media, advocacy specialist, and communication strategist who has consistently championed equitable access to reproductive health services, population and development, including gender equality and youth reproductive health. Ms. Shariff served in several leadership positions, namely TACAIDS Commissioner and serves in various local non-governmental organizations, including Sikika, and the Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation, chaired by the first lady of Zanzibar. She has also headed global reproductive health-related projects funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), USAID, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Ms. Shariff holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Carleton University, Canada. She has cumulatively 20+ years of experience in media at the Tanganyika Standard Newspapers (TSN) and the Deutsche Welle TV and Radio Station in Germany. She is currently an independent consultant in policy advocacy, communication, and media.
